What the features mean on the road

Glancing Off shell shape: a consistently round, smooth shell with no sharp edges to catch. Why it matters: in a fall the helmet is designed to slide, not grab.
Rounded chin bar: shorter protrusion, so it is less likely to catch and dig in a spill.
Super Fiber PB-CLC shell: Super Fiber has 30% higher tensile strength than standard fiberglass, for added penetration resistance.
Breakaway parts: the chin vent cap and peak screws are designed to break away on impact so they do not add force to the helmet.
Air-Through ventilation: top-rear duct that doubles as a goggle-strap locator, with diffusers you can swap by removing one screw.
Emergency-release cheek pads: trained medical personnel can reach an injured rider more easily.
Removable neck roll: easy cleaning.

Fit and sizing

Arai builds the VX-Pro4 in an intermediate oval shape, which Arai says fits the majority of head shapes in North America. Arai fits are famously precise, so try before you buy. We fit helmets free at the shop, so you can check the shape and size before you buy.

A good fit if you have an intermediate oval head and want Arai's smooth, round shell.
